Kybella is an FDA-approved injection containing deoxycholic acid. It dissolves fat cells under your chin. Your body produces deoxycholic acid naturally to break down dietary fats. Kybella does the same thing in a controlled way.
When injected into fat under your chin, deoxycholic acid breaks down the cell membrane of fat cells. The cell dies. Your body removes the dead cell over time. Once the cell is gone, it doesn't come back.
It's the fancy term for a double chin or excess fat under your chin. It can be caused by genetics, weight gain, aging, or a combination of factors.
